Sitges, once a small fishing village, has become an emblematic place. Located thirty minutes from Barcelona, Sitges is a maritime town with a rich architectural heritage and a unique landscape, characterized by its 4 kilometres of beaches and a microclimate that guarantees three hundred sunny days a year. It has always been linked to the world of culture. The arrival in the town of Santiago Rusiñol, versatile artist and creator of the five Modernist Fiestas, converted Sitges in the capital of modernist art and a meeting place for artists and creators. Sitges, then a holiday town for the upper classes of Barcelona, was already well known among tourists by the end of the 19th century.

Is located in Santiago Rusiñol’s former home and workshop. Apart from magnificent sea views, it offers paintings by the great names in modernism, as well as an important collection of cast iron and ceramics, from the artist’s private collection.
Next to the Cau Ferrat Museum you will find the Maricel Museum, containing the art collection of Doctor Pérez Rosales, dedicated mostly to medieval art, and with an excellent selection of modern Catalan sculpture including works by Joan Rebull and Josep Llimona. The visit is highly recommended, if only for the magnificent architecture of this seafront mansion.
